Reflection:
Abraham’s encounter with the Lord under the oak trees of Mamre reveals the posture of a heart that treasures God’s presence. When the Lord appeared to him, Abraham ran to meet Him and pleaded, “Do not pass your servant by.” His words were not just polite hospitality. They were the expression of deep reverence and longing for divine fellowship.
Those who walk in favour with God are those who welcome His presence with eagerness. Abraham’s humility and attentiveness brought blessings not only to his household but to generations after him. When we value God’s presence above everything else, He delights to dwell among us and reveal His promises.
Sometimes, God draws near in quiet moments, in prayer, or through His Word. When He does, may we, like Abraham, respond with open hearts; ready to serve, to listen, and to host His presence.
Application:
Make it your prayer today: “Lord, don’t pass me by.” Create space in your schedule to meet with God intentionally. His favour often rests where His presence is welcomed and honored.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your presence that brings favour and life. Like Abraham, I welcome You. Please do not pass me by. Let Your presence dwell richly in my heart and home. Teach me to recognize when You are near and to respond with reverence and faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
