Topic: The Word Became Flesh
Scripture: John 1:1–5, 14: “In the beginning was the Word… and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”
Cross-Reference: Colossians 1:15–17: “The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”
Reflection:
Before Bethlehem, before creation, before time itself, there was the Word. And the Word was with God, and the Word was God. When John wrote these words, he was unveiling the cosmic scope of Christmas. The infant in the manger is the Eternal One who spoke galaxies into being.
In Jesus, the invisible God became visible. The Creator walked among the created. The One who upholds the universe by His power stooped low enough to be held in human arms. This is the mystery of the incarnation: God became one of us so that we could become one with Him.
When you read the nativity story, remember that the Child wrapped in cloth is also the Word wrapped in flesh. This is the perfect expression of God’s love. He came not just to visit but to dwell, to live among us and within us forever.
Prayer
Word made flesh, thank You for revealing the heart of the Father. Let Your light shine through me, dispelling every shadow. May my life reflect Your glory and grace. Amen.
